SUNDAY - Final Race Day 4.25 pm - Possum Bourne has a flat... Tajima (Japan) wins ahead of Rod Millen (NZ) & Rhys Millen (USA) 2.11pm - Monsta Tajima has scratched his second car, the twin engined one. He is still competitive with the Vitara... 2.00pm - Motorbikes have gone, reported good track conditions 12.30 - Weather, although not brilliant, looks as tho' it will hang in there. No rain, but a cloud cover from about 1600m. Competitors will be on a dry track, hidden in cloud for a fifth of the race, and burst through to clear skies for the finish. Saturday 1.00pm - "Monster"
Tajima broke rear gearbox in the twin engined Suzuki. He is currently
waiting for his second run in the Vitara - The 1000horsepower beast
which has won this event for the last two years. 4.00pm - Rodney Atchinson in his VW Beetle has crashed and delayed proceedings for a few minutes, although going on to complete course. No injury reported... 5.05pm - Possum Bourne in the Sabaru WRX555 is the quickest by far - 10 secs ahead of Rod Millens' Toyata Truck and Tajima's Suzuki. 5.10pm - Weather report is good... It'll be a great days racing tommorow. 6.00pm - Possum says "most of the course is actually better than it looks... Gate ten-twelve is terrible, but towards the end it gets clear again." In response to how he felt, he replied "there is more in reserve." |
