23 - 24, Junior Team Training Weekend
The NZ Junior and Development Teams preseason weekend camp. All members are expected to attend.

25 - 28, Waiorau Snow Farm Scholarship Camp
Lean to Cross Country Ski week for Schools.

25 - 29, New Zealand National Team Training Camp

July

1, Freestyle Time Trial. 10km + 5km Freestyle
Early season time trial to conclude National Training Camp.

1 - 6, Children's Week
Children under the age of 16 get free day passes and ski rental. A skiing adult must accompany all children for the purposes of safety.

2 - 5, Waiorau Snow farm Scholarship Camp

8, One-Day Pursuit 10km and 5km x 2

15, Hanging Valley Time Trial 15km freestyle

22, Biathlon Weekend
Ski racing and two attempts at 5 targets. 1 minute time penalties are given for missed shots.

28 - 29, Ski Orienteering Weekend
Brains that are needed to navigate your way around the markers to find the right combination for success.

30, Secondary Schools Championships
The New Zealand Secondary Schools Cross Country Ski Championships.

August

5, Snowfarm Snow Triathlon Bike, X-C Ski & Run
Run through snow, bike across our ski trails while trying to maintain control of your bike on the snow. To finish the race a Short Cross Country Ski around the trails in front of the base buildings.

Merino Muster

The Merino Muster is an International Ski Race held at annually at Waiorau Snow Farm, and is the largest cross country ski race in New Zealand. The race is a future candidate for the World Loppet Series. The race has sections and distances for all levels of skier and a fun event. 7km Straggle Muster 21km Snow Rake 42km Merino Muster.

The Southern Muster

New Zealand's High Country Half Marathon FUN Run. 10km fun run and 10km walk as well as the 21km half marathon . Course: easy running on the ski trails that have prepared for winter cross country skiing. Spot prizes Course 10 km Meg River Valley trail. 21km Meg River and hanging Valley This is fun run is at 1500 m altitude and subjected to mountain conditions please bring suitable clothing - light wind proof jacket & overpants. Drink stations will be provided at the 5km marks.

Mountain Biking

Waiorau has ideal mountain trails for mountain biking as well as downhill trails to the valley floor . Permission to use the trails is essential and a plan lodged with the office. Bikes must be kept to the formed trails as the Alpine grassland is fragile. A fee of $10 per bike is required to use the trails on the ski area. Downhill. Downhill trails using the access road and the farm tracks makes a great ending to the day. Please leave gates as you find them and don't disturb stock.

Dog Sled Racing

Held in September every year. Race are held at night to simulate the cold conditions of the arctic which stops the dogs from over heating. Come and see how races of old used to utilise dogs as their main method of transport in winter conditions.
