Cross Country Skiing and Skating
Waiorau is the only commercial area setting tracks for cross country classic and skating techniques. The standard of track is equal the best tracks in the Northern Hemisphere. The normally light dry snow makes for good skiing. The tracks wind through the Meg River Valley to the North and the South. The season is from the beginning of July to the end of September.
Ski School Lessons
Waiorau is well served by a team of professional overseas instructors who between them have many years experience in cross country skiing at all levels, casual through to professional racers. Packages can be arranged to suit you or your groups needs at your own pace. So spend a few hours letting them improve your technique and make your skiing a more enjoyable experience.
Ski school rates:
Group lessons: $20
Private lessons: $30 st person $20 additional persons
School group rates: available on request
Instructor over night rates: available on request (out to huts.)

Waiorau's comprehensive ski hire facility can cater for all your cross-country ski equipment and more! As well as standard classic and skating cross country skis we also have executive skating and classic skis. Also available for you to explore the fantastic backcountry of the Pisa range. This includes touring skis and snowshoes. To ensure you get the gear you want we allow you to book in advance. Unlike many other sports, cross-country skiing can be a whole family affair, even for the little one's. Ask about our baby sleds for towing children. Binding system -both NNN and profile so if you want just bring your boots.
